BVCC Domain Name Change - August 2019

Because BVCC is changing our web hosting service to a different host, the Internet domain name associated with The Bella Vista Computer Club is changing from

bvcompclub.org
to
bvcomputerclub.org

This means that the BVCC web site will no longer be at

http://bvcompclub.org,
but will become
http://bvcomputerclub.org

If you have the BVCC web site saved as a browser favorite or bookmark, be sure to save the new address and delete the old.  The new web site started as a copy of the old web site, but updates are only going to the new site.  The old web site content will cease to exist after Sept 2.

The club email accounts with @bvcompclub.org email addresses will become @bvcomputerclub.org email addresses.  If you have any @bvcompclub.org email addresses in your contacts list or address book, they need to be changed to the new email addresses.  The new officer email addresses for Sep 2019 – Aug 2020 may be found at http://bvcomputerclub.org/officers.htm.  The old addresses will auto-forward to their new counterparts for a while, but that forwarding and the old email accounts will cease to exist after Sept 2, 2019.

If you had previously needed to add membership@bvcompclub.org to your contacts or address book, or take some other special action to prevent BVCC list emails from membership@bvcompclub.org from being classified as Spam, you will now need to take similar action for membership@bvcomputerclub.org .

The new web site should automatically switch from http to use secure https.

The old web site at bvcompclub.org will be set to display an announcement of the move and redirect to the new site.  This redirection will be in place at least until Sept 2, 2019, possibly longer.

All references to the BVCC web site or to BVCC-specific email addresses that are under our control will be changed to reflect the new web site and the new email addresses.  It is unknown how long it will take search engines like Google to return the new site in response to searches.

This change does not affect our identity on Facebook or on Meetup.com, only the content on those sites that makes reference to our web site address and email contact addresses.
